What are Biceps?
Also known as the biceps brachii, your biceps are the large muscles located on the front of your upper arm between the elbow and shoulder
Biceps are composed of two heads known as the long head and short head
The long head begins at the top of your shoulder while the short head begins at the front of your shoulder, underneath the collarbone
Both heads run down the front of your arm, meeting in the center to form the bulge you see when you flex your arm
Biceps are responsible for flexing your elbows and rotating your forearms, allowing for various movements such as lifting, pulling, carrying, and turning things.
EX: Putting a box on a shelf, lifting weights, turning a screwdriver, opening a door, carrying groceries, etc.

What are common injuries?
Bicep tendonitis is the inflammation/irritation of the tendon connecting your bicep muscles to the bone of your shoulder. This is often caused by overuse, repetitive motions, and poor posture (https://www.upmc.com/services/orthopaedics/conditions/bicep-tendonitis#:~:text=Bicep%20tendonitis%20is%20an%20inflammation,by%20a%20repeated%20overhead%20motion)
Bicep strains range from the muscle being overstretched to torn, resulting from overuse or lifting too much weight. This can cause pain, swelling, and weakness in the muscle. Bicep tendon tears/ruptures occur at the tendon connecting the bicep muscle to the bone of the shoulder or elbow. This is due to forceful movements and heavy or sudden lifting, causing sudden, sharp pain and a noticeable “bump” in your upper arm (https://www.aurorahealthcare.org/services/orthopedics/conditions/biceps-tear)
