In order to attack the problem of air pollution, you must also understand how air pollution is created.
We know that air pollution is made up of different harmful chemicals that get into the air and make it dirty.
For example, cars and trucks release a gas called carbon monoxide, which can be harmful to your body if there's too much of it in the air.
Factories, such as the ones located near you, might let out another chemical called sulfur dioxide, which can cause rain called acid rain that harms plants and animals.
There are also tiny particles, called particulate matter, from things like burning wood or coal, which can make it hard to breathe.
When all these chemicals mix together in the air, they create pollution that can be bad for everyone’s health.
Here is a good video to help explain further about air pollution.
Curious if air pollution is affecting you? Check out this video to do an at home experiment to see the pollution around you.
After you have completed the test, answer these questions
Was there a lot of dirty particles on your card?
If you said yes, what do you think caused this? Could it have been because of where you placed the location of your card?
